I'm a big proponent of having a policy with a 'lifetime' bneefit period. A lot of people/agents assume that 'lifetime' is 'too expensive'. It's oftentimes more reasonable than you think, as in your case.

Some insurers charge a lot extra for the 'lifetime' benefit period. Others don't.
