Long Term Health Care Insurance

My husband is a Korean War Veterans with a 40% disability. He had a stroke in May of '99 and has been diagnosed with vascular dementa. If he gets to the point where I can no longer care for him at home, are there VA facilities he can go to rather than regular nursing homes?
