I agree and I have a John Hancock LTC policy but I do see advancements in LTC policies. It was not that long ago that LTC policies did not cover home care (source MrLTC). I see companies like UNUM who offer fixed daily payments. I see one time elimination periods improvements, home care from day one like GE, funds in LTC policies that pay for a wide assortments of benefits like John Hancock's Flex benefit. In future years I am sure we will see more improvement in LTC benefits. I am happy my John Hancock policy has a Upgrade clause in it, I can upgrade to the 2002 new John Hancock LTC policy.
: James,
: Like most long term care insurers, John Hancock comes out with a new LTCi product about every 2 or 3 years. Their newest product is expected to become available in 2002.
: "Newer" product does not necessarily imply "better" product. Many of the products that have come out in the last year or two have not been better than those products which they replaced.
