: An insurance agent has proposed two companies for our LTC insurance. They are CNA-LTC Preferred Advantage and Kanawha insurance. I presumed none are NYSE listed. Is it better to buy from listed companies since I can check on their financial conditions? And appreciate any comments on the companies.

YTLEW, you can easily go to each company's web site and download their annual report and other financial reporting info. You'll want their AM Best rating, Standard and Poors, Moody's and Duff & Phelps ratings also. Weiss ratings, too (to pacify some of my esteemed colleagues).

Rest assured, the CNA plan willprovide far greater benefits when you compare apples to apples.
