: I thought I would share what I did do get LTC insurance. In March 1999 I had a major medical problem and after this I tried to buy LTC Insurance but none of the top rated insurance companies would write me a policy. I belong to an HMO health plan and my medical file is a foot thick. I started a hard exercise program (I run about 100 miles a month) and I kept a log of what I did (Date, time, milage, route, weather, etc.) then I asked my HMO to put this log in my medical file and provide it to insurance companies. I am happy to report that GE Long Term Care issed me the new LTC Choice policy the one that waves the elimination period care if you use the Privileged Care Coordinator. If you are having problems getting LTC insurance then go to work on your medical file, work with your doctor and get his/her help. I also had my doctor write a letter about my "good" health and put it in my file. Don't give up!
