: : In this debate where does the captive with LTPC or ACSIA come in? As I understand it they represent several companies so they have the ability to find the right product for the client while also providing the agent with qualified leads.
: Jim, a TRUE "independent" negotiates contracts with as many GA's, MGA's or companies that he/she so desires...without requirements for specific sales quotas with or to any one company or marketing organization...otherwise, you are not TRULY independent. Of course, you have far more freedom than being captive with ONE carrier but there are still objectivity issues that must be considered when your GA/MGA says you gotta do more with XYZ company or lose compensation and/or your appointment with the GA/MGA.

Steve: Is that how these organizations work? I realize that any captive is going to have production requirements but so does the independent if he/she is going to make a living. How do LTPC and ACSIA structure their agents?
