: Hi, Snowflakes.
: Long term care insurers have VERY DIFFERENT standards by which to determine if someone is uninsurable or not. It does not make very much difference if you are declined by one. I have gotten long term care insurance for some of my clients who were declined by two or three companies before. Every long term care insurer uses different criteria. Some are tough on diabetes. Some are tough on heart problems. Some are tough on bone density/osteoporosis. They all have unique criteria. Getting rejected by a top insurer does NOT mean that you will be automatically rejected by every other top insurer.
: However,if you're very concerned about being rejected, what I often do if a client has some questionable health issues, is apply with two or three insurers simultaneously. Not too long ago I applied with 3 insurers at the same time for one client who had some pretty serious vision loss. We applied with 3 of the top insurers simultaneously. Two rejected her but one did approve her. If she had been approved by all 3, then she would have taken whichever one was the best and cancelled the other two for a full refund.
