Hi, Indepedent/Concerned.

I'm not an attorney. I'm just a simple insurance agent trying to understand the complex legal issues we all have to live with today.

Based upon your first, very brief, description of this legal document you've had drafted for yourself, I concluded that it would not protect you from long term care expenses in most cases.

Please help me (and the others on this board) better understand this document.

You described the document as follows:

"if my health gets to the point where someone else is in charge of my health care, they are not to medicate against any ailments and are only to give me pain medication."

I have a lot of questions, but I guess the most important question is this: how long after you no longer receive any medications (except pain medication) do you expect it to take you to die?
