Carl...Call you state's Attorney General if indeed you have a valid claim...do this before the statute of limitations run out in your state, usually 2 years. NO...it's not indicative of the industry. However, just as in any industry, we, too, have our share of bad apples. That's why it is imperative that people do as much research as possible concerning company and agent stability in the marketplace...BEFORE THEY BUY!!!
I have no specific experience with Conseco as far as LTCi is concerned because I WILL NOT represent them for LTCi. That decision was made years ago when they began having trouble with their stock and the prospects of wrong doing. Yes, I owned some of their stock. In fact, just yesterday I received mail notification informing me that I am a consumer/member of yet another class action lawsuit against Conseco concerning that stock trade.
When in doubt...call your Attorney General's office!!! It's your right!

: My folks are in their 80's and in poor health; my mother has a diagnosis of Alzheimer's. They have a Conseco policy which should cover home care, and are getting nowhere with extracting even one penny from them in over a year. Oregon has a reputation of being a pro-consumer state, but we've gotten nowhere with this outfit. Do we just have a lazy or incompetent agent, or is this normal for Conseco? Conseco took over my parents' carrier and seems to regard premium payments as contributions. How widespread is this pattern among LTC companies?
