John;
Regularly, there are posts on this and other boards asking the same question: "Which is the best LTC policy?"
There is no answer for that question because everyone's needs are different and everyone's pocketbook is a different size.
You need to sit with a broker in your state who represents a number of LTC carriers.
Your mom has a couple of medical issues that each company will look at differently.
Your mother may have required physical therapy after her broken knee. Some companies will insure her immediately after her PT ends, while other companies will require a 6-month waiting period. Her ht/wt may knock her out of the Preferred Rate Group and her visits to a mental health practitioner may also be a problem.
If you have a serious interest in looking into a policy for your mom, it's in your bet interest to speak with a LTC specialist.
