Parkinsons
Parkinson’s disease is a malady that affects the central nervous system in such a way as to produce tremors and shaking in an uncontrollable manner to the sufferer. The disease is name after the doctor, Dr. James Parkinson, who first discovered the disease in 1817. It is estimated that 2% of the overall population suffers from it, and males suffer at a slightly higher rate than females.
No one knows at this time what causes the disease but some leading indicator are genetics, herbicides and other environmental factors. Unfortunately, right now there is no true treatment for this, and in fact even slowing its progression down has proven elusive. The most pressing needs for sufferers has been the limiting of motor fluctuations such as shaking and trembling. There has been some progress made on medications that will ease these symptoms, although most present undesirable side effects. Most people who suffer from this disease would need the economic resources a long term care insurance policy could provide.
Parkinson’s disease is an unforeseen malady that would need long term care insurance, such as the one Travelers' sells to cover the cost of care.
